Wednesday Evening Book Group

This is a very informal group; there are no quizzes! :) We meet (usually) on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month (except during breaks in the Purdue schedule) at 7:00 p.m.

Our April 2012 book is The Bible Made Impossible: Why Biblicism Is Not a Truly Evangelical Reading of Scripture, by Christian Smith.  We’ll discuss the first half of the book (through chapter 4, pp. vii-89) on Wednesday, April 11, and the second half (pp. 93-178) on Wednesday, April 25.

Watch this space, or the weekly e-bulletin on our home page, for details on future books.

Special Event: Charles Dickens Bicentenary Celebration! Our group will be meeting with the St. John’s book group, to discuss the life and works of Dickens.  Wednesday, March 28, 7:00 pm, at St. John’s, Sixth & Ferry, Lafayette.  We’ll gather at 6:30 pm for “light desserts in the Victorian style”!

We usually have a small number of copies of the current book here at the church for lending out.  Buy a copy of  any of the books we’ve read from Amazon.com through our Website, and we make a few pennies.  Go to our “Donate” page (here), click on the Amazon.com logo, and then place your order.

Questions about the book group?  Suggestions for future reading?  Contact Mark Thomas at the church office, 743-1347, sheep@goodshep.org
