“Workship”

At least once a semester we celebrate the Holy Eucharist at Food Finders Food Bank . We sort food for distribution to local food pantries and have Mass on top of banana boxes. Here we are sorting green beans into bags.

Pantry Volunteers

Food Finders New Building

Volunteers are needed at the Food Finders Food Bank new on-site pantry. Activities include checking clients in, promoting upcoming programs, assisting with the shopping experience, and leading educational programs. The new “FREC” (Food Resource and Education Center) is designed to help struggling families.  Simply, distributing food is no longer enough. There are lots of other things to volunteer for.

Lafayette Urban Ministry Shelter Meal

Our congregation helps at the Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) homeless shelter once a month by preparing the shelter’s evening meal. We are scheduled to always do this on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Contact Mark Thomas in the church office (765) 743-1347 or sheep@goodshep.org to volunteer.

Lafayette Urban Ministry Shelter Night

Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM), which is located at 525 N. Fourth St. in Lafayette, always needs people to volunteer to spend the night helping at the shelter (one training session required). LUM has a variety of other volunteer opportunities available. For more information, contact LUM at (765) 423-2691.

Jubilee Xmas 2014 #8 Wrapping TableMark

Lafayette Urban Ministry “Jubilee Christmas”

Would you like to help with LUM’s Jubilee Christmas? To be involved, sign-up in the church foyer, take a bell from the tree, and bring a new toy to church and place it in the box. Or, help distribute toys and food to Lafayette Urban Ministry’s clients with the people of Good Shepherd and St. John’s, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lafayette.
